Weird Stop Error at NT5 1515 Installation

Post by ViennaXP »

Hi,
I just switched to Virtual PC to test some windows betas, because VMware doesn't have proper drivers and in VPC the graphics and sounds work almost with every Alpha/Beta.
But I get a weird Stop Error when Installing NT 5 Build 1515 in VPC 2007.
Image
Normal Settings, used Windows NT as operating System. 500 MB of RAM, 4 GB of Space..
I did it like the readme says.. Windows 98 Floppy, fdisk, formating , starting "winnt.exe /b" but then after coping files and a restart, I get this stop error. In VMware it worked fine, only a driver screwed the system up after installation.
Doing this with 1877 doesn't give me this error and it installs fine.
Tower PC: Windows 8 x64 with Media Center, I forgot the specs
iMac 21,5 Mid 2011: 2,7 GHz i5, 8 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB, 1 TB HDD, OS X 10.7
Macbook Pro Retina Early 2013: 2,7GHz i7, 16 GB RAM, a fancy dGPU, 256 GB SSD, OS X 10.8

You need to disable ACPI and Power Management in VM's virtual BIOS. It helps.
By the way, ACPI driver is broken in 1515, so if you are installing to real machine, make sure you don't install it.

Thanks, now it works fine...
Didn't know the ACPI Driver is broken, looked into the BA Wiki to find out what it could be. Maybe somebody should add this
I would never install a so old Beta on a PC, I think I don't even have a PC which would be supported.
The only Betas I installed on real Hardware ,were Longhorn 4074 and thousands of Windows 7 Builds ;)
