Longhorn 4074 TWIWMTB

Post by Savoury »

Description

Windows Code Name Longhorn introduces a breakthrough user experience and is designed
to help you feel confident in your ability to view, find, and organize information and
to control your computing experience. The desktop experience is more informative, intuitive,
and helpful. At least, it was meant to be.

It took way too long but here it is.
With this release we'd like to remember an old Friend of us - Benjamin Aaron Lucas/Utakz.
May he rest in peace..

Changelog

- Various explorer fixes
- Aero, featuring the well known preview pane aurora
- Services fixes
- W-Lan fix
- other small things..

Thanks to anyone involved!
Now go on, and play ;)

Oh, and the change log will follow later..

I just want to say this is almost RTM!

It isn't even remotely close to RTM. That term gets so loosely thrown around here these days.

4074 doesn't require a bios date.

I'm guessing from the ~750MB filesize this is a repacked Longhorn 4074, but just to make sure, is it a repacked Longhorn 4074 with some fixes in it?
Goodbye.

Re Panda X: It did. I tried it w/o changing the BIOS date and it failed to login.

Anyone got DWM running in this repack? I got the VMWare 3D WDDM drivers to install from hounsell's driver kit but DWM won't run, at least when I try C:\WINDOWS\i386\sbctl.exe start

I wouldn't expect the WDDM drivers to work as they're for Vista/7. I use SVGA II in VMWare 7 and it works.

What exactly do you mean by "evolve"?
The build released is exactly what most of the people where seeking for since 2004. There's no need to start anything like a customization project, it's just as the title says - the way it was meant to be. Oh, and it's no repack, the WIM is exactly the same as 4074s original, same PE and everything - only extractable using Ximage 4059.

Not working here. I tried starting DWM and it just resulted in Explorer and all window borders going invisible. Oh yeah, it also disabled the Themes service for some reason.
Goodbye.

Just tried that and it caused Explorer to go totally insane. I guess I'll try re-installing and see where that gets me. Maybe it's not a good idea to use a winlogon patch and AntiWPA at the same time.
Goodbye.

It is not a good idea use AntiWPA on 4074. Winlogon patch is already patched for both activation and timebomb.

What version of VMWare? Because I got that on VMWare 8 and VMWare Player 3.

Also to restart the themes service run this in cmd.

Code: Select all

net start winux

I'm running VMWare Player 3. I suppose DWM in Longhorn only works in VMWare Workstation 7?
