Help with Windows NT 5.0 Build 1515 Installation
Help with Windows NT 5.0 Build 1515 Installation
I start the installer with the Windows 98 Boot Disk and install with the /b switch to not need to make and use the boot disks. After the installer finished with the DOS portion of the install I rebooted and it brought up a 0x0000003E Stop Error. I have no idea where to go from here. By the way, I am using VMware Workstation 8.

Ok. I tried that an it brought up a 0x0000007B Stop Error. It also says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE underneath the Stop Error code. I don't have a clue again here.

Try virtualBox or VMLite. It should work.

VirtualBox gave me the 0x0000003E error I had before.

If you download 1515 from BA, you can have a look at the readme file included in the archive.
Using no switch boot floppys resulted in a 0x0000007B stop error
This build does not work in Virtual PC 2007 (I have not tested it in VPC 2004 yet), however, it works fine in VMware 7.

Or try to install it on a real computer (with Pentium I / II).

It works fine on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1:

As TheCollector1988 said, disable ACPI and Power Management in the BIOS (You can enter it with the DEL key) but also untick the ''Hardware Virtualization'' in the Settings.

just to note, changing BIOS dates on Windows NT-based systems is not required until Longhorn builds AFAIK.

Re: Help with Windows NT 5.0 Build 1515 Installation
In some NT 5 Beta and some Longhorn builds it is not necessary, but with Whister it is needed.
Also, you can also set the BIOS Date to be sure and catch that you maybe need to reinstall again.

Yeah! Thanks! I finally got it to work. That apparently is the problem with some other operating systems.
