Longhorn + XP SP3 Files = XP SP3 anyways. So no profit.

If you want it to be your primary os that wouldn't be a good idea because it's pretty outdated and full with bugs and glitches which can ruin your pc!! You rather use it on a virtual machine

Re: windows longhorn 3718 sp3
The only is to change Service Pack version in registry, imagecfg ntoskrnl and win32k, and manually install DirectX 9 (dump the files, then change the version).chrisjose1913 wrote:but im thinking bye doing this it will fix missing files aka i will be able to run games erePwned wrote:Longhorn + XP SP3 Files = XP SP3 anyways. Well, at least BogdanV maybe can help you. He has run Red Alert 3 in 4074 before.chrisjose1913 wrote:is there a step by step on thisPwned wrote:The only is to change Service Pack version in registry, imagecfg ntoskrnl and win32k, and manually install DirectX 9 (dump the files, then change the version).chrisjose1913 wrote:but im thinking bye doing this it will fix missing files aka i will be able to run games erePwned wrote:Longhorn + XP SP3 Files = XP SP3 anyways. No you can't, though. Also:chrisjose1913 wrote: it would be cool but if a can just get a sp installed it will be a start meens lees files to fix
Longhorn = W2k3
W2k3 != WXP
Some files, like Notepad from XP SP3 will work on Longhorn, but not the kernel.

DX9 can be installed on 3718, look at the blueplex_patch.iso I uploaded before, that has DX9 on it.

Re: windows longhorn 3718 sp3
Why you didnt just edit CDS version to service pack 3
Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot
If doesnt exict any CSDversion value, create as Dword value
@dblake
I got files from google and downloading now

Longhorn for build 3663 to 4093 is based on core of XP.Pwned wrote: No you can't, though. Also:

For build 5000 on forward is based on W2K3.

@alvaro_ag.
You are 100% WRONG.
Longhorn before reset is based on the Microsoft Windows .NET Server 2003 Release Candidate Code, after the reset it is based on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate Code.
It was never build on XP code.
