Derf's HQ Windows XP/2003 Edition Backgrounds

Post by Derf »

If you're like me, you've got a particular fondness for the original Windows XP edition backgrounds. However, the problem is, like other XP-era backgrounds, they're in a measly 4:3, 800x600 resolutions! Now I'm not sure about what you think, but to me, in 2010 that's ridiculous. So I decided to give them a bit of an update.
It's worth saying that these are done completely by scratch from point-zero. As such, there are some differences between the originals (seen here, here, and here), but for a quick 10-minute job these should do. These have a 21st Century-friendly resolution of 1920x1080.

It was only ever 'Professional' IIRC.

I know - I made the conscious decision to set it to "Professional Edition" to make it fit more with Home Edition's wallpaper. I always find that that sort of discrepancy bugs me.

These all look great. I mean, you couldn't tell that they were made in such a brief time, the only minor difference I could find was a slight miss-alignment in the words "Home Edition", but that doesn't really matter.

I used the Facebook 'like' image. Agreed though. I don't see any phpBB plugins; yet I do on my WordPress blog.

These wallpapers are good, but I don't use them though. I still do stretch regular 800x600 ones. That's me.
Still thanks Derf for them.

Andy is no fan of phpBB Modifications, he avoids them unless they are essential.

it would be nice to have the option to use older os backrounds with that os's logo e.g. in Windows Server 2008 R2 use Windows Server 2003/R2 wallpapers but with the 2008 R2 logo
Intel Core i7-3920XM
32 GB PC3-12800 DDR3
2x RAID 0'd 1TB 5400RPM HDD
256GB Crucial mSATA SSD
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
nVidia Quadro K2000M w/ 2GB DDR3
FHD Internal Monitor w/ Colour Sensor
