hrm... I smell looking through torrent trackers and hoping for the best...
You might run into some interesting things via torrent too (like using DHT and Peer exchange to find stuff that trackers won't)
bit offtopic, but i'd like to know what torrent sites (public, not private)
are good for searching beta OS's, i know Pirate Bay has it but its generic
and only has most known leaks

I haven't been able to ever find one... I figured they just didn't exist. Stuff like that doesn't last long on torrent trackers. You probably couldn't even find Vista betas anymore, let alone anything older.

It worth to look for the stuff in ed2k network since it keeps some files for a much longer time than torrents.
i dont know if this off-topic but in regards to Windows Memphis 1233 ( the one with the experimental 3D explorer ) i know no one is willing to share that build but there might be a way to get hold of the 3D explorer:
i remember playing around with either a Chicago or a Memphis build, i was in a sub directory the c:\Windows ( i ALWAYS enable "show hidden files"), i found a file, (i think it was a .bin file , it DEFIANTLY was not a .exe file ) in one of the directories so i double clicked on it ( i used to double click on every file when i was a noob to see what would happen) and the 3D explorer appeared right above the normal taskbar, the startmenu did not display, just the 3D explorer taskbar, i rebooted windows and double clicked the file again but the 3D explorer did not display, and of course i didnt think to save a copy of the file or write down the build number of the windows build that i was playing around with, SO if anyone has the time ( or want ) then it could be a way to get hold of the 3D explorer.
*im about 70 % sure that it was a late build of Chicago and im about 90% sure that it was a .bin file.
Well... the only reason I assumed torrent was because of the tag "0DAY" at the begining of most of them... A few of the "Exclusive" torrent trackers that I was part of used to release packs like that... I picked what I liked, and seeded the whole 20gb pack for about a week on my dad's work computer (Until the new pack came out, then i'd delete everything I didn't want, and seed the latest release)
I'll check some obscure places... if you've got file names, Filewatcher.com might be able to help
As I said, they would only have files going as far as the early OSBetaArchive days, if even that. Otherwise, I would have noticed, not to mention I would have found them in Google search results already, and most likely many other people as well.
EDIT: If anyone didn't notice, this is almost completely a Linux related search engine.
Usenet would only have contacts, and most likely (almost certainly actually) they would have changed their email addresses many times by now. They also would not be likely to give out their builds, remember that most Usenet users they're also from a different generation, and as such, they even remember when the Internet existed, and they're also very busy people in general, so even if you do find their email addresses, you should treat them with respect, and get to know them first before asking them for their beta collections.
