Newsletter

Post by Andy »

Hello all,

Everyone should have just received the first BA newsletter. This one was mainly a test so if it doesnt work properly please let me know. I need to know your browser, who does your email (hotmail or outlook etc).

Thanks,

Andy (Admin)

It says Hot Linking Banned in the image, is that normal?

I was thinking that it could be the image you used to test...

Hmm, I didn't see that message, the image showed up for me (okay, to be honest, Thunderbird had initially blocked the image, but after turning that off, everything was fine).

I think that's because I use gmail, and I don't use any email client. So the server thinks that gmail is hotlinking the image.

Yey I solved it by making a sub-domain to get around the hotlinking issue and adding in Bcc for everyones e-mail.

Worked perfect here. It's really too bad about the bloody spamming. All good forums come under fire though.

At least it indicates our forum is of some interest, according to prx984
Working fine for me (the newsletter, I mean).

I don't know if this matters, but the image is way to wide for my gmail... just to let you know.

Hmm, its nice, but you shouldn't put everyone's addresses in the To field. Some people like to keep their email addresses private. I'd use the BCC field, as it does the same thing as To but it doesn't show you everyone else's addresses.

I have now. I didn't realise it did it on the first one till I was told about 10 times by numerous people Its now Bcc only so you wont see everyone, hence why I sent it out twice.

I do appologise for that. I didnt realise it actually sent them out. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep private e-mails addresses private though, instead of using them on a forum. Lets just hope nobody uses them for, shall we say, fraudulant purposes. Remember its only the forum members who got it, so its kept to a group of people.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the newsletter was marked as spam, even though the other emails I get from this site aren't.

I think newsletter is often a blacklisted word.
