OR : Extract the iso to your hard drive, double click setup.exe - works for me.

You don't need to use UltraISO to do this. The instructions are all over the Internet so I'm not really sure who to give credit to, but here they are. The process is the same in Vista and Windows 7 and will let you run the Vista or Windows 7 setup from a flash drive.

Open a command prompt as Administrator and do the following. This will wipe out anything you currently have on your flash drive though.

Type: diskpart
Type: listdisk
Identify which disk is the flash drive you want to use
Type: select disk [your disk number here] (Example: "select disk 2")
Type: clean
Type: create partition primary
Type: select partition 1
Type: active
Type: format fs=fat32
Type: assign
Type: exit

NOTE: I had an issue formatting the disk in diskpart, I'm not sure why. You can ignore "create partition primary" through the "format fs=fat32" lines and just do that with Disk Management. I would make sure you exit out of diskpart while doing it though.

Now just extract the ISO onto the flash drive or copy the files over from the disc.

Or get Clonedrive and mount the iso as a virtual DVD (http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html)

Alcohol 120% does the same but clonedrive's free

Except this (and hugotimo's) methods won't let you do a clean install. If your computer can boot from USB you can boot right into the setup from a flash drive at boot just like you can from a DVD.

I use a simple method
1) VISTAOR7DVDUNIT:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 USBUNIT:
2) With WinRar I extract all Vista or 7 files in my flash drive unit
