Post by ceery »

To install Windows 7 build 7000 from a HDD partition you need,
A windows 7 DVD .iso,
UltraIso (or another ISO Editing program)
A 4 GB HDD partition
A Blank Cd and a CD writer

1:) Download a windows 7 DVD .iso file

2:) Download and install UltraIso

3:) Make a copy of the windows 7 ISO

4:) Open the Copy Of the Windows 7 iso in UltraISO and delete the \Sources\Install.wim

5:) Burn The modified ISO file to a blank CD

6:) Boot From the CD and Click "Repair My Computer" and then click on Command Prompt to start a command Prompt

7:) Run X:\Boot\bootsect.exe (Substitute X:\ For Your Cd Drive Letter Usually D:\)

8:) Run "xcopy X:\*.* Y:\ /e" without the Quotes. (Substitude X:\ for your cd drive letter and Y:\ for the newlwy created partition)

9:) Reboot The computer and eject the CD

10:) When you get the Message "Windows Is loading Files..." wait until the setup screen appears

11:) Click Install

12:) Run The install As usual

13:) When you get an error message saying something like "Setup was unable to update the boot configuration"

14:) When You Are Back At the install screen, click repair my computer

15:) Reboot When Prompted

16:) Enjoy Windows 7!!

Or...
1. Download 7zip or alike and extract the contents of your Windows 7 ISO to your hard drive.
2. Run setup.exe.

ADD: Not a perfect clean installation, you'll have a Windows.old folder, but beats all that hassle

The method that ceery outlines here (if it works) would work, he says to use a CD and a Installation disk - Install.wim is pretty small.

If his method doesn't work, you could always vLite yourself a CD sized disk if you're really desperate...
