Favourite OS
Server 2003

I have a computer running windows XP. Recently it stopped connecting to the net (didn't co-inside with any updates etc...). I tracked the problem to the truevector internet monitor (zonealarm) not starting (failing to start the service). I tried to uninstall zonealarm, but it wouldn't let me so I used one of the free tools (cmd script) to get rid in safe mode.

The thing is, it is connecting and resloving dns fine... it sometimes downloads mail through outlook express, but WON'T browse any webpages in IE / Firefox (etc... etc...)

I'm guessing it's something to do with zonealarm - has anyone experienced this and is there any solution?

Cheapy cheap VPS and hosting for BA members!

United States
someone on posted nearly the exact same question (but asked how to unninstall it instead) so you can try to see if you got rid of it comletely.

If your system restore goes back far enough try going to before you installed it (might be a pain to change all of the settings since but its worth it if you can't figure it out)
