What build do you think vista RTM Will be?

I heard somewhere that it would be 5900, but in your personal opinion, what do you think?

I'd be betting on 6000 - the final build usually has a round number (they round it up, like XP was 2600) so will be almost certainly be either 5900 or 6000 (as I think they've already passed 5800, so it won't be that). As Vista is Windows NT 6.0, 6000 fits perfectly.

I agree with Vista Ultmate R2. However, apparently they're already on 5808 or something
Besides, it sounds like a nice number for Vista to be in

I'll bet on 6000 but the real question is what build will it really be if they don't round

59xx as the 5808 should be the last build released before RTM.

6000 does sound like a good bet.

The RTM build number will be manually changed to 6000. Let's guess the build number before they change it. I think it will be somewhere in the mid 58xx range.

It says here that Vista 5808 has been seen, and one of the screenshots shows it to have been compiled on the 12th October, yet they say they think that yesterday's build was 5840 (would they really have made 30 builds in 10 days? I thought it was more like one a day?). It's probably a week or two until it goes gold so if they're really doing 30 every 10 days it'll be about 5890 I think.

5824 was released to TAP yesterday. Build date of the 17th. Which would mean 16 builds in 5 days. I don't think the build numbers are going to go much higher though. I'll guess 5850.

6.0.6000

Desktop OS' are rounded up (as one of the first posts said) but the server OS' aren't (like 3790 for 2k3 server, if I remember correctly)

The build number of Win2k final was 2195 – both Pro and Server. That has not been rounded up

He's done that multiple times now, each time being warned by me. I think we have to think about the next step... Do you think this topic can be locked?
