So what is with that? Version 2002, is the version I have. Does anyone have anything different?

ugh, When I go to System in Control Panel it reads:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Service Pack 3
Version 2002

??

i suppose for MCE it would show Version 2004 or Version 2005 ?

only 2002 shows it correctly, but that aint no wonder

oh. I haven't used MCE since the laptop that used to run it was reinstalled with WinFLP...

All versions based on XP RTM (FLP is seperatly build, based on something else) are Version 2002.

Er, don't mean to be funny, but on one of your pictures, you forgot to edit out the PID! I think it is the MCE picture. I just don't want anyone stealing your PID and working out the product key. Vey unlikely I know, but just be safe....

You can't get the Product key from the PID, the PID on its own is useless to any would-be key thief. All the PID can do is give us some information about the type of licence (volume, OEM etc) that it is.

I dont see the point - first of all, we would have to figure out the type of product key ( Retail, OEM, VLK)

Second, there are many product keys around that could make the same PID, because there are 39966959347240313551127910614010000000 possible PKs, but only 12157665459056928801 PIDS, so no-one will try to guess your PK if its not a VLk, because no one will go through 39966959347240313551127910614010000000 product keys just to find a already-actiated key.

Edit:

Oh yeah, and nobody would go throught all that trouble when they can find a PK in a simple google search.

And yes, there are ways to work out PK from PID - brute force ways thatd take like 50 years.

The difference, as far as I know, between different [complete] builds of an OS, is the device drivers and integrated service packs, etc....

the icons/wallpaper are customized and the extra options are provided via PHM plus!, but the SP3 and Winver infos are original and genuine. Win FLP is XP version 2006, even without SP3 applied :

it seems (on one of my PCs) it should be by the service pack - SP2= 2002; no SP or SP1=2001

i am not quite sure but it "seems" :wink:
