If I install something like Windows XP, or either builds 3683, 3706, or 3718 of Longhorn in VPC 2007, and then need to use the recovery console, by booting from the install disc and pressing 'r' at the ''Welcome to setup'' screen, it asks me what windows installation I would like to logon to, then I type the Administator password, (NOT the one for my account!) and press enter. Then it just freezes, no errors or anything, it just freezes. I could leave it for 5 to 10 minutes and still nothing.

Please can somebody tell if this is a bug with VPC or not?

Thankyou! :)

Why do you need to use the "Repair Windows" in the setup?

Anything checked :P
no, in everything from WinXP (dunno what whistler build) the "Repair Windows" feature was abolished for there only to be "Recovery Console" when you press R.

The Recovery Console was introduced in Windows 2000, accessed by "R" then "C"

Sorry if I sound unclear here, but I need to sometimes use the command line recovery console to copy a customized version of a system file, say if need to replace shell32.dll. But what puzzles me is why it always freezes everytime I select the installation to logon onto?
