Hi for some reason my FTP wont work on my main server at my dads the port is open. Could it be that virgin are blocking port 21 in and around Leeds ?
and can anyone get onto ftp://82.17.236.188 ? HTTP works tho witch is odd
Not sure if to post here sos lol!
From canyouseeme.org:
Success: I can see your service on 82.17.236.188 on port (80)
Your ISP is not blocking port 80
Error: I could not see your service on 82.17.236.188 on port (21)
Reason: Connection timed out

I cannot connect too.

Well it can have the following problems:

1) Port 21 is not open at router
2) Port 21 is not directed to the computer
3) Server computer doesnt have a static IP (192.168.1.10 example, evertime at start-up)
4) If you are using filezilla, see if the Firewall doesnt block the .exe, the SERVER.exe not the interface.exe.

5) It can be that virgin is blocking, but why?

1) Port 21 is not open at router it's open
2) Port 21 is not directed to the computer pointing right
3) Server computer doesnt have a static IP (192.168.1.10 example, evertime at start-up) the IP is static and correct
4) If you are using filezilla, see if the Firewall doesnt block the .exe, the SERVER.exe not the interface.exe. Me, firewall never!
So i'm confused by it.

Now im getting
Error: I could not see your service on 82.17.236.188 on port (21)
Reason: Connection refused

That sounds like a firewall to me. Check windows firewall.

Its switched off and allowing server.exe
Could it be that the router firewall is blocking it? but its only started happening recently.

If you open the port on the router then the firewall in the router should pass it.

BTW, Did you really open the GOOD port?

There is a difference between:
Port 21, TCP
Port 21, UDP

TCP = very safe, but takes longhorn to astablish
UDP = less safe, but it quicker.

Virgin don't block ports in specific areas. If they block it they block it for everyone. You simply have a configuration error on your firewall(s) or router.

It is related to the topic as the caption says you're doing it wrong which you must be.

It can only be one of the following:

1. Firewall blocking FTP
2. FTP service not running
3. Router not port forwarded correctly
4. IP changed (unlikely or you wouldn't have RDC)

Virgin do not block port 21 or I wouldn't be able to run my server from home.
