After you install VirtualBox Guest Addons or VMWare Tools in those programs, mouse gets smoother. However, I'm using Windows 95 on 86box and the mouse is really hard to control and it is not smooth. Is there a way around this?

Check the percentage in the window titlebar. If it drops below 90% often, you can't emulate the chosen CPU at full speed consistently, which usually results in laggy video and audio.

In that case, I'd be interested in the config you're using - machine, CPU, display and mouse type in particular.

That isn't the case, believe me.

He meant the virtual machine config.

Here is the config that works the best for win95 on my i5 laptop

AMI WinBIOS 486
486DX4/100
64MB of RAM
S3 Trio64

If you have any problems with this config, try bumping the CPU down to a 486DX2/66

Other than that, I don’t have much else. I run a desktop with a Sandy Xeon in it, E5-1620 in particular, on that it can run a pentium MMX 233 above 90% with this config

Award i430VX
Pentium MMX 233
256MB of RAM
S3 Trio64

ASUS P55TVP4
Pentium 133
16 MB Ram
Voodoo 2 - VGA

This must work fine with Windows 95 :P

The specs are very high.

I suppose the specs are fine if he says emulation speed is above 90% mostly.

Can you define more specifically what you mean by "the mouse is really hard to control and it is not smooth"? Does the pointer not move around the screen in smooth motion (it jumps, lags, stutters, etc.)?

What mouse are you using and how fast are you emulating the video card?
