Windows Media Center Beta Program

Post by Namronia »

M4rkuz said it to me and i looked, finally there is a download on "Next Media Center" (Codename: Fiji). I was lucky and opened "download" site, then there was "Windows Vista SP1 RTM- Japanese (x86 and x64)", 6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_client_ja-jp-frmcfre_ja_dvd.iso, 6001.18000.080118-1840_amd64fre_client_ja-jp-frmcxfre_ja_dvd.iso, well, i dont really understand, why is a media center beta the japanese service pack final?

if anyone understands, please explain it to me

thanks!

afaik, vista sp1 for japanese has a bug and it wasn't released in the sp1 beta before it was shut down
so, my guess is that they released it there

Oh. I see, so when are we supposed (if to be released) to be able to download that beta (WMC)?

I installed it fine on a test rig in Vista SP1.

Any chance it will install in XP x86?

I would say no, since the installer wouldn't work for a few possible reasons.

1) Version Check (i.e. 5.1.2600 compared to 6.0.6xxx)
2) Probably requires files only in Vista
3) Probably is only an update.

Which Edition are you running? Media Center requires Home Premium or Ultimate Edition
