[FREE] Free downloadable games!

Post by mrpijey »

I decided to make this sticky to have a single thread where we post official and legal downloads of free games. And I don't mean freeware games, shareware or demos, but full games that are for one or other reason offered for free.

Please don't use this thread for discussion or offers of your own games, start a new topic instead. This thread is only for listing freely downloadable games from official and reputable sources.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is free on Steam only today. So get it while you can. The offer stands only within 24 hours, so by tomorrow it will be payware again.

On GoG.com there are always a few free games.

Right now these are all free (and a few more). To see them click on "all games" and then select "free" in the price drop-down on the far right. I couldn't find a way to link to the list directly
  • Lure of the Temptress
  • Beneath a Steel Sky
  • Flight of the Amazon Queen
  • Teen Agent
  • Tyrian 2000
  • Dragonsphere
  • Akalabeth: World of Doom
  • Ultima 4
  • Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire
  • Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams
Check the list regularly, they often add new free games, sometimes for a few days only so you gotta grab them quickly
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

For me it shows this:
origin.com wrote: Looking for Command & Conquer Red Alert™ 2 and Yuri’s Revenge™?
Wow, you guys are loving Command & Conquer Red Alert™ 2 and Yuri’s Revenge™ On the House! The demand is so high that we need some time to cool down our servers. Command & Conquer Red Alert™ 2 and Yuri’s Revenge™ will return to on the house very shortly. Thanks for being patient!
Also, Theme Hospital is now free on ORIGIN

You know why? Because they probably ran out of CD keys.

There are some free games at DotEmu.com (kind of a competitor for GOG.com, but with a much smaller catalogue).
In fact, some of the free games "match" the ones at GOG.com (ie. same game, but wrapped by different company).

It's not really free as it's just a time limited offer. You don't get to keep the game or anything. So please don't post trials or time limited demos, but only truly free games you get to keep.

Sorry but this is not like the normal Free weekends. Once activated to your account you keep it for life (or as long steam/your account last)
So you may have noticed that we're running a pretty crazy promotion on Vertiginous Golf. For the next 24 hours, anyone with a Steam account and get the game for free, to keep and play forever.

Well, usually it's removed from your library after the time runs out, but if it's a keeper then it's fine.

Normally the Free weekend stuff disappears (unless you cheat) after the weekend. But freebies like this normally stay in your account if you activated it, it normally don't appear in the client like a free weekend stuff.

I got Portal, Left 4 Dead and a couple more like this (i got a steam account because Portal was given away)

Sweet, this is a good opportunity for me to check out the Tribes games.

By the way, I saw this on the gamedeals reddit:

https://www.indiegala.com/store#banner_form_box

CT Special Forces: Fire For Effect (free Steam key). Personally I won't be taking it as the game seems quite average but maybe someone else will.

As much as I love NCSoft, I don't think this thread is meant to collect all F2P MMOs that are out there. There are literally hundreds of them, and most of them fade away within weeks or months. I don't see Blade & Soul sticking out in particular...
