I'm now officially upgraded to Tiger on all of my systems.. after 18 hours of trying to get it and XPostfacto to work on my Granny's old iMac. That's right.. I actually set in front of a computer from 3:30PM to later than 4AM. But heck, once I got everything running right, it runs great. Faster than Jaguar. BTW, Safari 3 rocks.

Leopard can only run on G4s and up. And even then, the G4s must be 867MHz or higher for Leopard to be run on them. I still use Tiger a lot and I think Leopard is quite slow. But this is only my opinion. There are some good points about Leopard like the reflective dock and cover flow built-in to Finder.
I've only been fully successful with Hackintosh once. With an Asus P4GZ-MX motherboard. All you need is the Intel GMA drivers for the video, AzaliaAudio patch for the sound and the skge for the ethernet. Otherwise, you're good to go. I tried installing it on an Dell Inspiron 6400 but the drivers got too annoying. Besides, I rather run OS X on a real Mac and not a Hackintosh.

It's very easy to bypass the check for the 867 MHz in the Installer and run it on any AGP-based Mac with a G4 CPU. Mine's a Beige G3 with a 500 MHz G4 upgrade, which should be able to run it if someone can figure out how to get it to run on PCI graphics machines, this seeming to be the problem as someone apparently managed to get a Beige G3 with a G4 CPU as far as where loginwindow should start when they used some kexts from Tiger and XPostFacto, but no further yet sadly
Tiger's still pretty awesome though, it feels as fast as a brand new machine even though my Mac is about 9 years old and it can still run all the latest stuff like iLife '08, Office 2008, Adobe CS3 etc

I've found that my old Apples age better than my old PCs, and that if you load up on RAM you can maintain a surprisingly responsive computer even with something that >5 years old. My 533mhz G4 with 1.5gb of RAM remained great for all tasks from Photoshop down to web browsing before I gave it away last year.

I still think Apple has gone mad with the GUI, haven't you noticed that since 10.4 through now to 10.6, the column resizing is totally off? Under Panther 10.3 it used to just work when you resized the window or column then pressed the zoom button, it would snap back tightly to the max column length...
Its horribly driving me insane... working more in Terminal now,... Apple continues to suck, that from a faithful Mac grown up user since system 7.
