Windows XP + NTFS = Disaster!

Post by Andy »

Ive just had to format my laptop AGAIN for the 3rd time this month because the partition table for c: has been wiped when the system locked up. Im now going to use FAT32 and see how that performs!

Any ideas why it would wipe just by turning it off because the system locked up? Its never done it before and its done it a few times now in the space of a month.

I am not an expert but it seems like a HD failure. Run a HD test software on it.

Woah, it's terrifying to think that it's possible for that to happen. Hope you didn't lose any important files.

I don't have problems with NTFS and XP. On the other hand, do NOT try to format a drive with XP and install 200 on it.

I would check that your hard drive is small enough to support being on 1 FAT32 partition. FAT32 has a size limit. If you go past this you will only be able to use part of the hard drive or you will have to partition it
