yep.. the irony in Longhorn Live being developed on a Longhorn 4074 is bittersweet ;)

Let me get this straight. Longhorn live is basically longhorn 4074 being run in a web browser? What are the pros and cons

Hi,

Yes and no, its a WebTOP/WebDesktop/WebOS, meaning, its a longhorn-look-and-feel-alike virtual desktop written in javascript, dhtml and flash.

The end result can be one of many, my first goal is to provide a longhorn collection site, and maybe over time, a virtual desktop interface where everyone can get their own longhorn desktop.

L.

Very impressive work, took a bit of concentration to realise that one of the taskbars was your own, forgot you run 4074.

Hi,

I'v just updated www.longhorn.dk/new to latest version.

Next to come:

* Alot more code cleanup
* Move more functionality into the kernel.
* Optimize code and pictures
* FIX IE errors

Right now, LHlive runs best on Firefox/Chrome/safari, but IE support will come soon:

- List of kernel API features -
-------------------------------

kernel.init() - Functions that runs durring startup

kernel.debug.show() - Shows the debug console
kernel.debug.hide() - Hides the debug console
kernel.debug.sendToConsole('function name', 'message') - Adds a post to debug console

kernel.windowmanager.create(height, width, top, left) - Creates a new window
kernel.desktop.onLeftClick() - Runs onclick operations

kernel.sidebar.cycle() - Shows/hides the sidebar

kernel.calendar.getDateDay() - Returns today (0-31)
kernel.calendar.getDateMonth() - Returns active month (0-12)
kernel.calendar.getDateYear() - Returns active year (eg. 2009)
kernel.calendar.getMonth() - Returns eg. Jan.. Feb.. etc. (used for sidebar)

My base idea is to have a event within the kernel, so that its easy todo things, next to come is :

kernel.windowManager.minmize(id)
kernel.windowManager.maximize(id)
kernel.windowManager.restore(id)
kernel.windowManager.close(id)

Right now, i'm just focusing on the underluying sub system for sidebar and window manager, later comes startmenu and icons

Anybody wanna join ?
