Couldn't find a suitable section for this; feel free to move it as needed.

Long time lurker, first time posting :)

I've recently became aware of the existence of the MSDN Index CDs, while searching online for a complete list of CDs/DVDs provided by the subscription.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any ISO of any of them (I know some of them were leaked, but all links I could find are dead).

I have some questions; hope someone here can help answering:

1-How often were these Index discs sent out?
2-Was it always CD, or did they move to DVD later on?
3-Did each disc include only new content or all contents from previous discs? (ie. cumulative)
4-What was the latest Index disc released? (preferrably MMYYYY and part# ie. X##-####)

Thanks in advance.

There are 63 MSDN Index disc ISOs on the FTP spanning 2001-01 to 2007-12.

From what I remember...

The content and format weren't fixed but discs were published almost every month.

In general, the discs provided information important to subscribers at the time.

This included information about new media as well as an index of prior shipments.

The index discs were shipped along with other new media, never (?) stand alone.

Thanks for the quick answer voidp.

Yeah, that much I figured, although I won't be able to verify until I get access to the BA FTP (getting some stuff ready, hopefully will upload in the weekend).
If newer discs always contained stuff from previous discs as well, it'd be great, so I won't have to download many of them.
I'm also researching old MSDN releases, and that's my main interest in these Index discs.

All index discs were unique so if you want all the indices you have to download them all. The good part is, if you want just to know what CDs were in the subscription, you can extract a .doc file from the ISO with all the CD titles, then delete the ISO. This is what I did.

I tripped over this today:

     http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/5/4/15454442-CF17-47B9-A65D-DF84EF88511B/Products_by_Benefit_Level.xlsx

It's current, not historical, and not disc-based, but does reach back fairly far in terms of certain artifacts ("Windows 3.1", "Windows NT 3.51 DDK", etc.).

@GL1zdA
Thanks for the tip, guess I'll have to be patient.

@voidp
I've recently seen that; unfortunately as you mention it is current (no historical data) but also incomplete (if you look at the downloads available at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscr ... downloads/ you'll see there are several products they don't even mention in that spreadsheet.
