how about get linux?
i mean it IS better, and obviously so considering all the eyecandy you can get... all using less resources then Vista Aero..

other hten that, the answer is no
generally you can't even get the most basic effects of XGL, Beryl, Compiz or anything else even in Vmware..

well, my only problem with linux is multimonitor support. I have an ati card, and so twinview is out of the question, xinerama dosn't support compiz, mergedfb doesn't support compiz in a full 3380x1050 resolution, and BigDesktop has proved difficult to set up.

Closest I think is hitting spacebar in vista.

I don't see how ATI would be a problem...
I'm running an ATI card and it's fine... the card i mean... I run for performance, almost none of that extra fancy stuff...though that just might be the distro I run..
oh yeah, the latest suse supports nvidia and ATI..
or just wait... soon AMD will release newer "official" ATI drivers for linux

Beryl/XGL works perfectly with fglrx in horizontal DesktopSetup mode.
