as the topic says, how do i get it installed?

im confused about the GUI installer in gentoos live cd.

if anyone can give me an easy step by step on this distro then it will be most appreciated. :D

most other distros i get installed fine, FC, Ubuntu, Suse, ark, all go in fine, gentoo however is one big puzzle. :?

The Gentoo handbooks are great step-by-step tutorials. I got it right on the first attempt (after no experience with any distro other than Red Hat/Fedora). x86 AMD64.
Basically you just boot from the CD, create your partitions, unpack the stage and the snapshot, create a /etc/fstab, and emerge everything you want (I usually do emerge syslog-ng vixie-cron gdm kde mozilla-firefox openoffice openssh and walk away for a few hours).

what is the stage and the snapshot!?

never seen those used in other distros.

and how do you create the /etc/fstab manually and what do i stick in it?


i understand emerge as its like yum and apt-get i beleive.

Gentoo is a little complex to install, I use Kororaa's Gentoo installer for easyness.
