Post subject: | The "right" Linux Distro for me :D |
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been downloading and installing (on another HD, I change HD from Windows to the Linux drive when I got a new image) several Linux distroes. Fedore10, Slackware 12.2, Ubuntu, Mandriva, SuSE, Debian, and Open/Free BSD has been tried. Untill I had a look at http://www.linux.org/dist/list.html and just put in it should be 64bit then went through the list..... and found http://www.slamd64.com/ which I isntalled yesterday. See, my problem with all the others, (please don't ask why, I've no idea) was that after I isntalled the gfx-drivers for the ATI radeon 9550, if I reboot the computer then it would just stop in the middle of something and it ever went further. With Slamd64, this didn't happen ![]() So.. I think i'm gonna stick with the distro now... I've got no "need" anymore to try anything else. Another plus, is it's unofficially a 64bit "port" of Slackware, which is the distro I would go for first anyways (simply because it was my very first linux distro) |
