I decided to try compiling some SVN builds of ReactOS v0.4.0, and came up with two builds - one optimized for Intel Prescott-level processors and up, and another build optimized for Pentium III processors and up.

The compiled ISOs can be downloaded as a single package here: http://rapidshare.com/files/84177336/ReactOS.zip

I plan on offering as many builds from the SVN tree as I can successfully get built properly.

good idea , even though most people run reactos in a emulator like vmware or qemu its still good to have optimized versions.

could you please upload it to a FREE non RS mirror, like Archiv.to?

You should be able to just direct-download it - I have a premium RS account, and setup the download to be direct. Does it work as such?

Are you guys having any luck installing ReactOS (current or SVN) on real hardware? I have tried to install them on some of my older machines, but it locks up during setup.

I googled the problem (if I remember correctly it was locking up after blue.sys or something of that sort) and the best anyone could come up with was to use a current SVN build. But I still can't get it to install on any of my older machines.

the bestt idea is to visit the svn page every 24 hours and download the latest build, i probably get 1 out of every 7 builds to install and boot in vmware, because the code is evolveing so quickly its pure luck whether you get a build that boots.

I don't understand why you are trying to compile them on your own.
Here: http://www.reactos.org/getbuilds/ you can download the latest trunk builds.

Oh... wow. I had no idea that this existed. The only reason why I was compiling my own builds was to try out optimizing the code for specific processor types.

Because RosApps are not built ?
Because you can enabled "no-software-patent-valid-in-this-country" option at compile time ?
Because you want a build built with pentium4' optimization ?

It seems that none of these SVN builds will run under VMWare, at least, the virtual machine cannot be built initially on VMWare - I have to use QEMU to create a virtual machine and virtual drive, install the OS that I've built using QEMU, then convert the qemu disk image to a vmdk, and hope for the best. I wonder why this is. I should probably take a look at the development docs, but at the moment, I'm too lazy.

I've just built a live cd and an install CD using the latest available code, from 2:20PM EST today. It works fine in QEMU (on my mac), so I'm also including a qcow2 disk image for those with QEMU that wish to run a fully configured version.

Downloads (hosted on my website)- QEMU Disk Image: http://repository.jimmsta.com/BA/ReactOS-i486.qcow2.zip
Zipped CD ISOs: http://repository.jimmsta.com/BA/ReactOS-i486.zip

A new day, two sets of new builds. I've built the past two days of code into liveCD and BootCD packages, available here:
compiled for pentium3 - http://repository.jimmsta.com/BA/ros-svn-080122-p3.zip
compiled for pentium2 - http://repository.jimmsta.com/BA/ros-svn-080123-p2.zip
