Favourite OS
Win10/Debian Linux
I switch between these three:
Kubuntu
Gentoo
Damn Small Linux

I built a new server for my computer shop. We're running our old server in a Virtual Machine, on VMWare server, which is running on top of Kubuntu. It's quite fast, and VERY stable.

System Specs for the curious:
Code:
Pentium D 940
Intel 7230-based server motherboard
Intel SRCS16 SATA RAID controller
2x250GB WD SATA2 HDD's in RAID 1
Intel Server Chassis
Kubuntu 6.06.1 LTS
VMWare Server 1.0.1

Ubuntu because it boasts one of the best support forums I have ever seen. Not to mention it's a quality distro with ease of use.

I have used xandros and it seems pretty good. Drawbacks are it is a paid OS and isnt as robust as other linux.

I perfer Ubuntu, guess which version (Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu)

Hint: Take a look at my avatar...

Ubuntu in my opinion is fast, easy to use, the only problem is no MP3 support out of the box, but it isn't hard to add it back on.

DamnSmallLinux is my favourite distro because it just WORKS :) Easy. I don't use it much, I just have a play when I get bored.

A question due to your avatar: Do you use BeOS/Zeta?

I haven't really tried very many lately, but I do prefer Gnome. Right now I'm running Fedora Core 6 and it seems to be working fine. I tried Ubuntu a while back but I kept having sound issues for some reason. I don't know if it was an error on my part or if it just didn't like my SoundBlaster Live! card, but moving to Fedora appears to have taken care of it.

I use ubuntu Edgy Eft.

however theres 2 unofficial ubuntu distros lurking around on the web.

Nubuntu (a live cd network tool ubuntu has fluxbox shell)
Fluxbuntu (you guessed it ubuntu with fluxbox installed)

I use normal ubuntu (gnome one), but i have nubuntu on cd as its a good network tool disc.

and how the heck do you get gentoo installed? i tried everything.
so i gave up on that one.

Sorry for the small bump, but I personally love Ubuntu, it feels nice, looks good, got loads of good fetures, easy to use. Thanks Ralan for introducing me to Ubuntu xD

Fedora Core 6 is my latest favorite, it comes with everything ready for XGL and beryl out of the box.

I prefer Slackware because it's simple and it does what I need.

Anyone got an opinion of whether Slax or DSL is better? I need to decide which to play with to familiarise myself with linux before it gets too late :)
