Get it here.

A few notes:
  • Will not run on XP or very old graphics cards.
  • If you get a dexopt.exe or app_process.exe crash, disable Data Execution Prevention on Windows' Advanced System Properties, then reboot as required.
  • I'm not sure how to make it run windowed.
  • Installing Google Play Store: Download Ice Cream Sandwich gapps, extract contents of system folder to C:\Windroy\windroy_root\system - overwrite files if asked to.
  • Since it's natively running on Windows, apps that require native libraries won't work.
  • ADB is not implemented.

Downloading and testing. This seems pretty cool. Hopefully its not as resource heavy as Bluestacks is. That is why I stopped using it.

Agreed, BlueStacks resource management needs some work. Even when it's idle, it hogs a ton of resources.

How about Android-x86? It's fully installed ON A COMPUTER, functions well.

Out of curiosity, how'd you do this? Take the Android source and compile it for Windows?

It would be interesting to make it more of a window-mode app (I haven't tried it so my apologies if it has that option), where it's just a single file you run that opens up an Android homescreen and you can install all your apps on it without needing more than one window open.

First of all, how is this related to this thread?

Second of all, it really depends on the android version on that tablet.

That is awesome! I hope it's better than BlueStacks, because that program is just too laggy and slow on my computer. Looking forward to using this!

betaluva, don't attempt to avoid the swear filter again, it'll get you a warning.
Try to keep on topic, and also recognise that we aren't an android support forum and that your question would be better if it was posted on somewhere like XDA Forums.

Just for your curiosity, betaluva, it won't work. Unless you have a custom recovery on there, you can't just install all the apps without the GApps crashing. It needs to be flashed.

And I am a Member-OP on the XDA forum. I've rooted my Kindle Fire 2 and HTC One S.

Pretty nice, but needs some work- otherwise very good. Still, it lacks real support for other apps and such, like GenyMotion does. BlueStacks can run anything you throw at it, but as others have said, it's terrible with managing resources.

I've been looking for an alternative for running Android apps on a PC for quite some time now. Bluestacks would be the best if it wasn't so bloated with the resource management. This isn't that bad, either; very decent.

I found android-x86 on VirtualBox to be a perfect solution for me. Only thing you can't do with it is run "native" apps (with parts of code being processor specific), but apart from that you get a great android. If you add a networking card you can easily connect it with adb, too, using adb connect.

Very cool, downloading it, I used to have BlueStacks, but it was very slow and quite buggy, and now that I just restored my PC (It was getting slow...) It'll be very useful :D

You know, I swear I saw the exact same comment on a similar XDA-Developers thread.

Am just speculating here, it looks like a version developed by Intel to run on their Atom x86 chips leaked by a manufacturer in China.

OR

Someone went through the trouble to compile the x86 android branch.

Yes. Your first speculation is 90% correct. Intel Atom chips have been in phones A WHILE NOW. Probably 1-2 years already. Motorola Droid RAZRi is running that. However, it's still different architecture from the Atom N/Zxxxx. Therefore, it's quite different from the 32-Bit/x86 architecture.

And yes. Android-x86 is compiled.
