Backstory: I actually discovered this by mistake (placed a transparent png of the "FRINGE" logo as my lock screen) but just like Windows Phone, Windows 8 also supports transparent lock screens. I'm starting to create a set of lock screen backgrounds to take advantage of this, for a range of resolutions of course. I'll be posting them here (in post edits) right below this paragraph. Anyone else can post their screens here and any background you share, I'll be glad to "pin" right at the top.

Lock screen Backgrounds (Mine and User Submitted)
[Content will go here :P]

- about two minutes in illustrator... I just made this to see what it could do.

The End result:
Image
- With Lock screen on

Image
- Lock screen half way up

Sorry for the lack of better images... :/ but they get the point across.

No, it only makes your lockscreen transparent, so that you can see the login screen. No desktop involved. See the screenshots. Thanks. Bye.

Thats look really cool. So you have a large spectrum of making custom Logscreens :O but i like the default log screen most. Cause its like an slide to unlock screen before you really can log in or see which users are avaible/currently signed in ;)

I made one using an image online. It isn't like the one originally uploaded, but still uses a transparent image.

Hope you like it!

Wait...
Isn't that simply the wallpaper on the desktop, going to the Settings, and changing the lock screen pic?
Here's what I mean:

And compared to the pic on my SGT3:

When you have a password you only see the login, but if you don't have one you'll see the start screen/desktop.

I guess it doesn't count as transparent then.
You simply replaced your lock screen image as your desktop capture (as I did). If it is truly transparent, then even your password enter should be transparent. But it's not; so it doesn't count.
