Would there be a way of modifying Windows 3.11 to look just like Windows 1.x? Like changing the boot screen, getting rid of the minimize button and putting a Fixedsys type font in the place of the System font...

I mucked around a little with Windows 3.0 a while ago; managed to change the system font and the version number, but the System font was still there in some places.

Look around for proggie hight "MAKEOVER.ZIP". This allows you to change the windows furniture (ie Windows 3.1 themes!).

You might try http://toastytech.com/guis/index.html for some versions of Windows 2.x or 1.x proggies recompiled to run under 3.x The MSDOS.EXE under 1.x isn't really good, use the one from 2.x or 3.x,

Janus beta and the Windows Driver Library diskettes have msdos.exe v 3.1, the WDL version is /supposed/ to be buggy, but it did not look like the buggy one.

Boot screen is pretty easy to change:

copy /b win.cfg+vgalogo.lgo+vgalogo.rle win.com

Again, read the rules!

5. Try not bring up old topics (this includes bumping). Old topics are considered to be one month old or more from the last post made. Only reply with comments or questions worth mentioning. Do not reply to old topics if the reply is pointless, eg "lol thats funny" or any other pointless comment that could just bump up post count. People consistently posting in old topics with pointless comments risk being banned.

Please lock it.

Look at his posts, 50% are not worth mentioning posts.
I think that he started reading the rules but not get to the 5 rule.

No excuse at all..
You, along with an un named mod here appear to take
great pleasure in seizing every opportunity you can grab at
not only increasing your own postcount, but taking the p*ss out of
whomever you feel the need to because you feel you have the right to do so...
I don't get riled easily but i'm sick to death of logging in just to see you
& a few others getting on someones case, simply because you can...
& because you say "lock this post" it gets locked, when you didn't even
start it, what a joke this place is turning out to be...
Who died & made you a moderator..
Who, of any moral worth, would want to waste their time here just to
read this crap...
Sure the place gets spammed, why wouldn't it, the rules made to get to
the servers are the reason, pure & simple...
The obvious solution to this would be to changing it from 10 contributing
posts, to 10 contributing posts AND 20 days...
That would sort 90% of the time wasters out there & then...
Gee, that was a hard plan to come up with wasn't it...
Lets think about problems & sort them out instead of taking the p*ss at
every opportune moment yeah...
I'm interested in betas, not your problems, or your attitude...

And also, It says in the rules, contributing posts, so Andy isn't going to let someone in who quite clearly just spammed their way to ten posts. All they are really doing is wasting their time.
And, like KenOath mentioned, you aren't a moderator, and its not your job. Someone could just as easily say you are spamming ;)
Its best to leave this to the mods and admin :)

As said twice, you are not a moderator. You can remind people of the rules but it does not give you the power to ask for the topic to be locked. If it is a flaming topic you can "suggest" it is locked, but nothing more.

As for this un-named moderator (I would like to know who), you don't have to lock all old topics that are brought up. If its something useful like the post above, leave it. If its a pointless post, delete it. If its a completely unrelated post, warn the user, leave a note about the rules and be done with it. I have noticed some moderators (naming none to be fair) have locked topics in a different manner.

Please remember if you have a problem, tell me about it and I'll see what I can do to fix it. Now please, lets all get along. There is no need for the tension.

This sounds interesting... is this the app you're talking about?

That's the MAKEOVER. It has an editor to change icons in video driver files, including mouse pointers.
