As far as I've seen, the X1300 was launched in 2005, one year after 4074, also, the RV500 chipset was planned to support WPF 1.0, that is, before the launch of Longhorn.
I don't know though when the reset took place, so what I've said might be true for the Vista betas and not for 4074.
Anyway, real facts are more useful, so, did anyone manage to get X1300 to run ? (3D acceleration or Aero that is).

I'm asking because I thought on launching another round of trying to get as much stuff that I use to run on 4074 and also because my GF6200 is in service so I can't use it.

Try to get one of the first ati catalyst drivers that supports your card (5.x).
And try it, you never know if it works for sure.

Grabbed a couple of drivers and it seems that DX9 acceleration fails (according to dxdiag).
Would this be a DirectX issue or a problem with regards to the way the driver is handled ?
EDIT: DDI Version is reported to be 7 (dxdiag tells me that its too low for dx9 acceleration to be supported).

First, update DX version to 9.0c...

Tried sometime before and either the infs didn't do anything, or the setup crashed with no error.
Oh and there's DWM and Aero and the rest. Replacing stock dx9 with 9.c would probably be like replacing .net framework, aka kaput.
I'll see if dumping all the dlls into a game would work.

EDIT: Complained about d3dx9_34.dll which strangely should've been in the august package. Anyway, got the file from somewhere else and after that, nothing happened. I launched dependency walker and nothing seemed wrong. If its of any use, I tried launching COD4.
RA3 though worked sometime ago when I was using the GF6200 card.
Maybe I'm missing a dll, but honestly I don't know what could that be as I extracted all the x32 files.

problem with those test builds is that they were limited for specific graphic cards

4074 as i know was made mostly for NVidia 5x series (FX) and ATi Radeon 95xx and above
but mostly for 9x line

you can see same thing with build 5048 as it will give you error
and list of cards for which DWM works only

simmiliar goes for build 5112 altho at this time true LDDM drivers were
at beta stage (nvidia)
