Hello,
I got a scanner Brother DCP-540CN. Im trying to connect it to my Windows 7 OS Build 7137 x86 and for some reason he detects it only as a printer and not as a printer and scanner.
Is there any solution for this?

Thanks

In the manual of those machines it status almost everytime to do the following:

1) Insert the CD/DVD with the Drivers and Scanner program
2) Install it with the instructions
3) Then connect the Printer/Scanner and it will begin to detect it with all functions
4) Setup concludes and it has been installed
5) Now you can use the printer/scanner machine.

(If you don't have any driver CD or something, you should download the driver CD from the brother website).

Following these steps it should work.

If it doesnt work, try right-clicking the main ini file and hit install. If that does not work, theres a way you can do it still. Search the internet and dont be lazy.

If people are willing to help, which they obviously are, surely there's no harm in asking. chances are the op has tried googling (that is the first thing most people do) but has found it difficult to find what they are looking for and thus are asking people who are likely to have experience with the issue. In other words, there's no need to be rude.

@Daniel1981: see if some of the other drivers on the Microsoft update site work: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ ... =DCP-540CN

Vista drivers are supposed to work on Windows 7...

That is how Windows detected my HP PSC 1315xi too, as a printer only. To scan just use the software that came with your printer or use Windows Live Photo Gallery to scan.
