Is it possible? It'd be great for testing etc. I've been thinking about it a while and isn't it enough to make VHD disk on 7 or Server 2008 R2, mount it and install whaterever-you-want Windows on it (of course without rebooting). The only limit is that on x64 I can install only x64 Windowses, that is till XP :(

OK, for the time being I tried installing XP Professional x64 from Windows 7 x64. Option Install Windows XP is greyed, but when I go to AMD64, then run WINNT32.exe the setup takes off (have to run as Admin) , altough it says that the installed version of Windows is newer and I have to boot from the CD. I clicked OK and it runs farther. Everything goes well till restart, then installation isn't being continued and that's all. Any ideas? I've read about installing it on Virtual PC and then booting, but it doesn't work as well. I've also tried to install Vista x64, but at the very beginning of installation, after "Please wait" it errors with 0x80070103 error with "too little space", although I have over 40GB and that's it. I haven't tried Server versions, but they are sure to go along with the Client ones.

No one interested in that? It'd be great opportunity to test older versions of Windows, all the betas, alphas etc. Anyway I've downloaded XP VHD image (straightly from MS, it's not corruted), but mounting it with BCDedit doesn't work.

I've also tried it and it doesn't work. Installing Vista into a VHD and try to boot results in a BSOD
