I just installed Win7 7000 x64 on my brand new 3GHz Phenom II/8 GB RAM/1TB HD and whenever I try to do any file operation such as copying files from my external HD, copying files over a network, RARing/7Zipping a file, or even ripping a DVD to my HD, I get a different BSoD every time, which is quite annoying, especially when I can't even finish the smallest tasks without it crashing. Is anyone else experiencing this, or can you offer me some help? Thanks!

Yup, but for my case, it was Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. I removed it and installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7.

What antivirus do you have installed?

Disable your antivirus and, if any, antispyware temporarilt. Particularly if it is Norton.
I doubt it is the cause, but you could also disable your Windows Dfender, for the experiment.

is it only a glitch with the 64-bit version, because the 32-bit version works fine on my laptop.

I am also having frequent crashes...

Although VS 2008 runs smoothly, I was unable to install sun's JDK due to the installer crashing mid-way...

--> I have never gotten a BSD

What antivirus do you have installed?

Do you have problem with Kaspersky for Windows 7 (a.k.a Kaspersky for Windows Workstation 8.x beta, it's the same thing)? I get my log files oversized. Last time it's 29GB... 8-)

I get a different BSoD every time. One was a MEMORY MANAGEMENT error, another was that filmgr.sys cause a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, and there have been a few others which I can't recall off the top of my head.

You say it's happening when doing operations on files, right?
My friend had a lot of BSoDs while coping something because his HDD was corrupt... Check your hard disk ;)

To see of the HD is corrupt, boot with an another OS and try to copy and paste, from and to the HD.

Or run checkdisk in read only mode
chkdsk c: [press enter]

Also i would check your ram because the BSODs suggest that the kernel pages and memory manager freak out because of something maybe in ram...
