Post subject:  Microsoft Does Listen: Changes UAC Behavior In Windows 7

It seems that the recent criticism about the way the User Account Control works in Windows 7 had the result that Microsoft changed their stance on the subject. The problem that was causing the controversy was the fact that it was possible to change the UAC level on a Windows 7 machine silently. Silently meaning without being obvious to the user. This was seen by many as a security problem. Microsoft tried to convince those users that it was not a security problem but a design choice which did not convince most of the critics.

The critics wanted a system that would inform the user whenever changes to the UAC were made on the computer system which would include a prompt on changes not initiated by the user. Microsoft announced two changes for the release candidate of Windows 7, they are:

* UAC control panel will run in a high integrity process, which requires elevation.
* Changing the level of the UAC will also prompt for confirmation.

This means that there will always be a prompt for confirmation if the level of the UAC is changed on a Windows 7 system.
