Is it possible to get Aero with a not supported driver in Windows seven? My videocard (Nvidia 6200) isn't supported. I get only pre-drivers, but the are as bad as when they aren't installed.

I tried something I found on internet, with forcing it trough the register, but it doesn't work.

Can anybody help me with getting a good driver (I tried loads) or force it in another way?

(BTW, I can't let my computer get a WEI, because it hasn't the good driver for my videocard)

You can't force Aero.
Try using the Vista drivers - they should work fine on Windows 7 and you'll probably get Aero and a WEI score too :)

Right click on your desktop and go to personalize. Under Windows Theme, click any of them and see if aero pop up.

If that doesn't work, I have a driver that will enable aero. Just tell me if you have Windows 7 x86 or Windows 7 x64.

I've tried them, but they don't work. I've seen somewhere that it might work if you enable the compality mode for windows vista during the installation. I will try that.

I've got Windows 7 x86 (32 bit).

As already said by Hounsell, try the Windows Vista drv's. They should work, it worked for me through. Don't forget that when your system/CPU is 32-bit/x86, you don't download the 64-bit/x64 drv's.

And after installing the Vista drivers, you ran the WEI? Right? You really do need to run that before Aero will enable. And the fact that you don't have good drivers installed is no reason to not run WEI. You can ALWAYS re-run it.

The 96.85 Drivers from Nvidia work for the FX5200 Card, so give them a try (And run the WEI again after installing them like Ambig said).

We need a sticky of this in the Windows Vista / 7 subforum, too many people have asked about this on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

This driver should work, because it does support your card.

But windows 7 too?

Edit: after very long searching, and trying, I finaly get a driver that supports aero for me!

If someone other is interested to, this is the link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_96.85_2.html

It is an older version, but working perfect!

Hmmmm... *Looks at the Driver Version he suggested*....*Looks at the Driver Link that Zeehonden_3 Suggested*...Hmmmm

While I did say FX5200 (mistake on my part), the drivers contained in all Forceware Nvidia sets have the drivers for all cards up to that date...I don't know why you didn't try the damn drivers I suggested in the first place, the ones that you found after "very long searching, and trying, I finaly get a driver that supports aero for me!"....
