Hi, I realize Windows 7 is still beta, but if it were not for the issue I'm having right now, my experience would be perfect.

I had AIM 6 working for a day, but out of nowhere it crashed, and upon subsequent attempts to sign in, it would crash again. I looked in the event viewer and I saw this:
Code:
Faulting application name: aim6.exe, version: 1.4.9.1, time stamp: 0x4369490e
Faulting module name: jscript.dll, version: 5.8.7000.0, time stamp: 0x49433d3a
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0002916c
Faulting process id: 0x1294
Faulting application start time: 0x01c975275ab4ad27
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\AIM6\aim6.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\jscript.dll
Report Id: 9c78a013-e11a-11dd-b417-000129a36640

I tried replacing the jscript.dll from with an older version, and while I am able to sign in, the app inevitably crashes in a couple minutes. I haven't seen other people complain about issues with AIM, so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas.

Thanks!

I've reinstalled more times than I can count. I would use a different client, but sometimes things like file transfers between other clients and the official one don't always work, and I know most of my friends wouldn't switch over.

Trying using AIM 5.9, or if you're looking for something more up to date, AIM Pro. You can also go on http://beta.aol.com and try out AIM 6.9, which worked on my install of Windows 7 before I got so frustrated I uninstalled it.

6.9 gave me the same issue, but anyways, I replaced my jscript.dll with one from build 6801, and it seems to be working so far. I'm not sure if I'm breaking anything else in the process by doing that, but I guess I'll find out in the next couple days. btw, 6.x is pretty tolerable imo if you run the aim adhack.

I had the same issue. AIM 6.8 crashes after sign-in, so I uninstalled it and went back to 5.9 which works fine.

Here's the file I replaced, copy it into your sysWOW64 if you're on 64-bit. If you're on 32-bit, I'll assume putting in system32 will work. So far it's been working and nothing else has broken as far as I know.

jscript.dll
