Hello everyone.

I read an article on a german website (http://www.gamestar.de/hardware/news/be ... eaked.html - English: http://translate.google.at/translate?u= ... e&ie=UTF-8) and they say that a employer of Microsoft said that Microsoft leaked the Win7 Build 7000.

That also shocked me:

And the P2P version has a built-in "After Illegal software search function"

Anybody knows something about this?

cheers

To be honest, I doubt the whole thing. Firstly, while a leak for marketing purposes is conceivable, why not just have it as the beta release there and then? It'd reach a larger audience and they'd get more valid feedback from the affair. And all with the same benefits of a 'leak'. The reason MS has been relatively subdued in it's response is because, being the public beta build (as far as we know), it's stable and secure enough not to significantly damage their reputation.

And as for the 'Illegal software' thing, just plain crap. I've never heard such a stupid idea in my life.

Take a look at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/01/02 ... ittorrent/ as its a very reputable source.

and here is the original post from microsoft-watch.com:

http://www.microsoft-watch.com/content/windows_7/who_leaked_windows_7.html

i don't really know anything about that blogger, so I can't say if he is a reputable source...
(and he is only guessing anyways.) But it's an interesting theory.

every build leaks is like a winmain build, not any special lab builds. plus, when it gets to china, the leak possibility increase alot. When 6956 leaked, MS didn't have a huge reaction, and that no one stop them. Also, news on development on snow leopard had been very silent.
This 7000 build is released to certain partners as a test before making it to the general public. Not an internal build.
