Hi,

This morning got "7" installed on my mum's laptop to see if I could play around with "Homegroups".

It took quite a while to get 7 to play with the laptop after continually rejecting the vista drivers...managed to get it all working (with aero) in the end though! - Runs pretty smooth too.

Homegroups was really easy to set up on both PCs... I just created a group from my desktop pc, the laptop popped up a little notice to tell me a Homegroup had been detected, popped the password in and we're connected :D - It's a huge step over traditional file sharing IMO.

One of the greatest things once you've joined a Homegroup is you can add libraries on other PCs in your own libraries - instead of having to go through network manager like in XP.

Here's a screen of it in action :)

Thats actually pretty cool. I often find it annoying to have to go through the process of typing or browsing \\server\Data\Documents\Folder\doc.ext just to get what I want. Making a library of common folders would be a huge time saver for me. I do have a shortcut to this location but I have to get it from the desktop etc. I would use the normal my documents pointed directly at the folder but last time I did that when I went away from home Windows would hang a lot trying to connect to home. Hamachi helped solve it but its still quite slow in comparison.

Thats another thing I forgot to mention; When browsing the laptop from my desktop (both on a G wireless connection) it's almost like native browsing speed...not had one hang up yet.
