If Windows 7 is going to have tabs in IE and the ribbon UI on Paint and Wordpad, shouldn't Windows Explorer have tabs as well? I'm not sure if that's a great idea because I know some people don't want any more apps in Windows 7 to have the ribbon UI...

To me, it's a hassle to have tabs in Explorer (or any other file management utility). Hard to switch between two folder to do quick copying. However, they should implement dual-panel folder display for Explorer which I never seen. And Ribbon on Explorer would be cool though, time to completely upgrade Windows UI. :D

I think there should definately be an option to have tabs in Explorer, and an option not to. That way all parties would be pleased.

I would love tabs in explorer. I never use drag and drop. Although, with Windows 7, it may be made unnecessary.

Tabs in explorer would complicate matters for not-so-savvy users I believe. They would forever find themselves "losing windows" (voice of experience, a wholer family who lives in the stone age). I've seen a lot of people confused with Internet Explorer 7s tabbing ability.

I don't want my explorer windows tabbed for the same reason I don't want my explorer windows grouped on the taskbar.

Don't like and don't need tabs in explorer. It must have "Replace all","Skip all" options while copying or moving files/folders spesially for files what in use. It will be most usefull and it implemented in Total Commander for example.

IE, Paint, and Wordpad are not OS components; just applications. The OS' interface should be as clear as possible, and a lot of these things just clutter it up. If I was able to, I'd probably still use Program Manager for my shell, and File Manager to do my file browsing - they just did the job. Sometimes I just use MS-DOS Executive :).

I always found those things slow and clunky to navigate in all honesty, I think the GUI has been revolutionised by Windows 95
