1st. It maybe some hardware problem, try making VMware emulate only IDE

2nd. VMware has a nasty habit of auto-syncing the time::: See this post

If the tools are not installed, then it doesn't sync with your pc.
And after tools are installed, even then it doesn't sync until you tick the button.

But @xeeynamo:

We can't help you specifically if you don't post an screenshot or atleast post an error number.

Also, just to point out a small prob in the thread title, Longhorn builds are Alpha, not Beta.

I think I've had a similar problem as you are. I tried installing Longhorn 4008 with Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 but I received an error (can't remember what it is) at the beginning of the setup. I tried re-installing but without success. The other Longhorn builds I've installed works and installs fine.

Hardware trouble:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms819314.aspx

Type the error code:

0x00000078 into google and then you will find this on the first hit.

I always thought that VMware workstation is better to run Longhorn on than VPC 2007? Seems like I am wrong then.... :(

I'm guessing you're using VMWare 6.5, right?
Compatibility has started breaking in VMWare now, but to install VM Addition Drivers, use these extracted INF Drivers and Device Manager to install them:

But you got DWM working with Build 4074 of Longhorn running in Vmware 6.5 didn't you? I am downloading Vmware 6.5 right now, and I thought there is more chance of enabling DWM/DCE in Longhorn builds running in Vmware 6.5 than in VPC 2007? I once almost got Build 4074's DWM working in VPC 2007, but the explorer windows refused to show, fortunately, I had the reverse .reg file on the desktop and I just clicked it and said yes and rebooted and the problem fixed, but no DWM. :(

Do you happen to still have these drivers? The link looks like it died.
