Hey there, I am having some networking issues, I have all 4 PC's connected to the router, and I want to do shares of them, I got it to work last night, but now when rebooting and everything PC 2 can access my server 2k8 system, but PC 3 and 4 can't access it, I want to starton a clean slate by removing everything as I already reset the router to start clean.

But whats the best way to start it

PC 1 has Server 2k8

PC 2 has Longhorn 3718

PC 3 as Win2k

and PC 4 has Windows 98

Thanks.

Are the share names compatible with the other systems? I know that there is some compatibility issues with share names over a certain number of characters, and those containing symbols.

yea I fixed those problems after Longhorn warned me about it, I used shorter names per PC, but should I look into Server 2k8's issue with PC 3 and 4 not being able to access it ?

Regarding PC 4: In my experience, Windows 98 has trouble successfully connecting to NT-based computers, I remember when I had XP Professional on my laptop, and 98SE on my Old eMachines. I tryed to hook it up, it didnt work, so I changed the XP name from XPLAPTOP-666 to WINXP and it worked :P, Try that maybe? :|

yea, I will rename this one (#1) to a different name, something shorter as the classic PC's don't like long names but what is weird is Pc 4 can access Pc 2 and 3 which are both NT based machines.
