Basically, whenever I try to set the date back to December 2007, it comes back to August 2008 as soon as I reboot it.

I haven't got a working <DEL> key, so I've been doing it through the Windows clock setup thing. It works during that session, but as soon as I reboot it's back to today's date.

Is there a way I can actually set the date in such a way as it will STAY where I put it?

Thanks.

Yes, you must use edit some text (see link above with wath).

And if you set num-lock off, you can use the ''.'' key (the one right of the 0), it also marked as dell.
But you must use the BIOS to set-it.

Thanks, it works great now :).

EDIT: I've found another irritating problem, not to do with BIOS dates. I've tried twice to install VM Additions onto it so that I can use the native screen resolution of my laptop and whatnot, but each time I've done it it gets to nearly complete, then rolls it all back. Suggestions?

Also, how can I get it connected to the network? NAT doesn't work - I'm trying the Realtek Ethernet right now.

1) This about BIOS Dates, not the VMAdditions

2) None of the VM Additions work, neither VPC or VMWare.
3) Its not really needed, just some mouse drivers and other things, but not really needed because it works good.
4) You CANT GET AERO to work in VPC, only 4/8MB Video card and in VMWare also not.

5) The installer of VMAdditions check for the OS Version, even if its just out of the range (not on all beta versions) it would give you an error of unsupported OS version.

Thanks DjRob - all I want is the display driver and [possibly] the mouse driver, really.

Display driver is not possible.

Not on VMWare and not on VPC.

The mouse driver you can install if you want (dont know if it works, but i think so).
But the display driver doesnt work in this versoin for some strange reason.
