What do you think, who is the best of them?

With longhorn do I mean the builds from 2003. (like here, it is a very good movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9ifQvQCO7Y)

Or Windows Vista with SP1?

I think Microsoft had to check longhorn build 4051 (The PDC 2003 build) or build 4029 for mistakes, fix them, make a rc from it, and give it out. And then lateron, make windows Vista (or don't).

I think i like the longhorn theme more than the vista theme.

That video is just a concept, on this forum you will find the version that looks like it.

And if you want to run it daily, Windows Vista SP1.
If you just want to try, try longhorn, but most features will not work and you will need to set your date back.

I personally think Longhorn and Vista are very different ways of obtaining the same goals. Longhorn never finished development - comparing it to Vista isn't sensible. The concepts within Vista are polished, those within Longhorn are not.

UI-wise? Stick Plex on XP and you've got all the Longhorn I need.

In my opinion a finalized 4074 build would feature the better Vista than those 5xxx builds :)
But we'll never know what Longhorn would have been...

Honestly. I can't really find anything in Vista that would make me want it. I usually turn themes off, I use Firefox for webbrowsing, and Avast for antivirus. I don't need Movie Maker/DVD Maker cause I use Sony Vegas and DVD Architect, I don't have a laptop, so no wireless.

Really, XP Pro is fine for my use.

Longhorn FTW I think that 4074 can be used for everyday tasks with a little tweaking. It is a great OS you should give it a go.

Well... Vista is "done."

I had Longhorn 4074 on an old IBM. It was ok. I put in my Nvidia MX 420, and I could never get to the desktop again, so I threw Server 2003 on it. I have a "modern" computer, so Longhorn is too old hasn't been maintained to where everything would even work on my computer. Just way too much hassle for little benefit.

But it won't work on sata drives, and slipstreaming fails (even with the repack).
I can get older builds working, but not that one  (only a long time ago on my p4 and ide HDD)

Using Longhorn 4074 as your main Os, or any other Alpha/Beta Os for that matter, is a very, very bad idea.

You are saying that in a community of alpha/beta software users.
