I have a feeling that your video card does not support DWM.

I have nVIDIA 8500. DWM doesn't works because latest XP or Vista drivers don't work properly with LH.

No, because the card is to new to have old enough drivers =\

first you have to know that you dont get hardware accelerated effects like in vista, its all software only because there are no lddm drivers available, so only xp drivers work in longorn, dwm/aero in software is unstable and not recommended for daily use = so its just for the showcasing effect.

secondly i have to say that your complete pc is a bit too new for longhorn.. you would be better of with anything between a pentium iii or iv ,athlon socket a and so on based mobo and a gpu that was common in 2002 - 2004.

longhorns hardware requirement is very moderate, compare it to xp gold, in fact the first build to require 256mb ram and a radeon 9xxx series with 64 to 128mb vram was 5048 which counts as a alpha vista build :->

in fact i have more than once installed 4074 on ibm thinkpad 600e which has a pII 400 sitting on a intel bx 440 mobo and 196 MB Ram and a 2.5MB neomagic gpu and if you belive it or not - that laptop works great with the os after stopping winfs and the other showstoppers. it has acpi and is officially xp compatible *g*

also the PIII siemens/fujitsu scenic workstations from 99,2000 and so on work great with 4074 .

every ms os can be tweaked to the core, but one needs just standard hardware especially when working with betas because ms will always support industry standards over strange and custom hardware, and so i choose my machines alone with that aspect : standard hardware. more important than speed.

Should work. I had a 775 Celeron and a PCIe 6200 and DWM/Glass worked fine :)

try different drivers, starting with the oldest for your card.
Always XP or 2003 drivers (4074's is a mix between XPSP1 with some features of SP2 and Server2k3 pre SP1 ) , no Vista of course.

always have the date of 2004 in mind when thinking of compatibility.
