As announced earlier this week during the Tech•Ed 2008 Keynote - Silverlight 2.0 Beta 2 has been released.

Get it from Microsoft Silverlight 2 Beta2.

You can check out in details various improvementsin Beta2 from ScottGu’s Blog.


Apart from Silverlight 2.0 Beta 2 release, comes two new releases also worth taking note of: Expression Blend 2.5 June 2008 CTP and an updated build of Deep Zoom Composer for Silverlight 2.0 Beta 2 support.

what i want to know is "why do we need silverlight?" other than to use the windows update sight?

On some of the MS pages I've been to lately, it's said something along the lines of
needing silverlight to view the page correctly.
I'm guessing it has something to do with code embedded into some of MS's web pages.
Much like some sights cannot be viewed without installing macromedia flash player first, just a guess though.

I think Silverlight is Microsoft's attempt at competing with Adobe. A mean feat as Flash already has its foot well and truely planted on the internet.
