TabletPC features on Server 2008

Post by remi.serriere »

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to buy a new laptop in a few months, a tablet PC (HP TX2120).
I like Server 2k8, because, as for me, it's more reliable than Vista.
I know that, by enabling the Desktop Experience feature, Server 2k8 can support Tablet PC inputs, but there is no "Digital Ink", ...

Is it possible to find the installation files from Vista and to install them on Server 2k8?
Or maybe, is it possible to copy the files from Vista (in Windows and Program Files folders) to Server 2k8 to have it working?

Thanks!

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -US;947036 says no but if you were to go under Turn Windows Features On or Off you should see "Tablet PC Optional Components" in the list (assuming you've installed Desktop Experience")

I installed Desktop Experience features just after having installed Server 2k8 .

I prefer Windows Server 2k8 because it seems to be more stable than Vista...
Moreover, I never shut down Windows... I always put it to sleep because I use it everyday at school. It takes too much time if you shut it down.
After a couple of days, Vista begins to run slowly, but Server 2k8 doesn't!

That's why I prefer Server-based operating systems...

I used Server 2008 for almost 4 months, and rebooted twice. Once for drivers, and once when it crashed. Yeah, its pretty reliable. I'm waiting to get a licence through DreamSpeak...

Shouldn't 2008's reliability be identical to Vista SP1's though, given that they are exactly the same at the core, just with a different set of features installed? Server 2008 has quite a bit less installed/enabled by default though, maybe that is where the better impression of it comes from.

Well... a valid license... a valid serial number...

Bender, didn't you mean that it's what you want? A license to use Server 2k8 legally?
