Where to buy beta CDs?

Post by gracz54 »

I was wondering where some of you guys get your beta CD's of Windows, etc.
I checked eBay and found nothing there.

I spent a lot of time posting requests on a couple of hardware forms, qxl etc.
After 2 years, i got:
Windows 2000 Pro and Server beta 3
Windows 2000 Pro, Server and Advanced Server RC1
Windows XP Pro RC1
Windows .net Server 2003 Enterprise Edition RC1

Collecting beta CD`s takes a lot of time, but that's a part of the fun
My gaming machine: AST Advantage 6066d. Cyrix 66MHz 486DX. 4MB RAM. 512KB Cirrus Logic onboard graphics. Creativa Vibra 16 ISA. 520MB HDD, 3.5" FDD, 40x CD-ROM. MS-DOS 6.22/Windows 3.1

Unfortunately, eBay doesn't allow Beta Software to be sold. If someone attempted to sell such software on eBay, it may do a lot of harm to the seller. I hate to say this but seeing Betas sold on eBay isn't very likely.

I'm just greatful that I was able to purchase a copy of the Windows 95 Build 490 MPK CD-ROM bundled with a Microsoft Office for Windows 95 Beta CD-ROM and that I was able to share it with you. You might also want to check other eBay areas. For example, instead of checking eBay Poland (Which you probably checked since it seems that that's where you live), you could try checking eBay USA or eBay Germany.

I'm sorry, but the chances of finding a Beta on eBay is pretty low unless you're an expert with searching for these things.

I checked eBay USA.
So, if not eBay, then where?

Consider checking at your local thrift store... I found a Whistler and some IE betas there...

It depends on where you live. Around here I can't find anything at thrift stores. My theory is that you generally have more luck in the city areas, especially since there are lot's of colleges/universities cities.

However, I went to a tech flee market and found a couple of Beta CD-ROM's which I plan on releasing on Release-a-fortnight when I can get a chance to take some pictures.
