In search, I found one photo that reveals the Windows "Blackcomb" in 2001. Is it true? Because this looks not like others. Original photo has removed in current website. So, I tried to view it in media server of ASCII.jp.

Yes, that was the initial plan for Blackcomb to succeed Whistler. Then they decided they'd release Longhorn as an interim release between the two. Eventually, Longhorn ended up taking over the entire feature set planned for Blackcomb, which then only continued to exist on paper until getting canceled.

That appears to have been just one of the countless rumors at the time. The reports were all based on a single comment under a Channel 9 video by an evangelist blogger.

So yeah, that probably wasn't a thing either.
