Hi,

I am currently running Longhorn Build 4033 for a bit of fun on my laptop (typing on it, now) but there are a few things I would like to know.

1) Where are the sidebar tile images kept? (are they in dlls / exes or standalong bitmaps?)

2) I have hardware rendered windows running fine, but are there any other tricks up its sleeves?

Cheers.

BA Uploader seems to have cut off the bottom of some of them, but you get the picture :)

A good place to start would be imageres.dll, which contains the sidebar, taskbar and preview pane images ;)

A great way to tell that its dce is broken is the corners of windows. It's not easily noticeable but its there. Black corners, which mean rendering failures. But, 4033 does have one last trick up its sleeve, glass. It, and every other 4xxx build have it, but it's just a matter of getting it on. Also, it's the most stable m4-m5 build. Very fast and a lot less instabilities compared to other 4xxx builds before it. Also, unleaked 4040 appears to have been based off of this build as well, as it uses this build's plex format (older XP back/forward buttons) as seen here on the BA wiki:
