Hey folks,
just installed LH 4039 on my computer (yeah, I'm the freak who does it without VM - well....maybe it's because my computer's too old :-P) .
Is it just me, or is that build awfully slow?

And then again: How can I enable DWM? I tried executing sbctl.exe -start from the prompt, but there wasn't anything happening. Do I even have the chance seeing DWM-Effects with my nVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (64 MB)? I at least could see them in 3718.

Best regards
Jens

P.S.: Any ideas on how to rescue an install, that has been messed up by Tw***NT? (Appearently timebomb-removel didn't work, and now I can't log-on anymore)

I have it all, the patches to enable DWM, to remove the activation thingy and the timebomb.
But it's 4.16AM here, i'll post it all tommorow with a detailed description, but don't worry, it will all be ok :)

Ok, first of all, let's start with reinstalling the build, because you messed it up :P.
Now overwrite the old winlogon.exe with this one, now reboot.
Now use TweakNT to remove the timebomb, reboot again.

For glass, you have to put desksrv.dll in these 2 folders:
%windir%\i386\desksrv.dll
%windir%\System32\desksrv.dll

rename the old ones to desksrv.bak or something.

To enable glass, go to start -> run and type "%windir%\i386\sbctl.exe start"

All the files are in this package:
http://rapidshare.com/files/88320405/lo ... 9.rar.html

After the DWM patch, it should look something like this.

Note: glass is very unstable in this build, if you want to use it properly, don't enable it.

Hey tristan,
thanks a lot for your help. I'll try it as soon as I get home and report if it worked. Thanks already in advance for your great help.

Oh by the way: For which builds can I use your winlogon.exe? Only for 4039?

It will be for 4039 Only. Using it on other builds will break them ;)

Hey,
thanks to your help I successfully deactivated the timebomb. As for DWM I'm not that lucky: All I get is a huge black border and on it the glass-effect. But highly unstable and unusable. I suppose, that has to do with my graphics adapter? Does anyone know a rather cheap (used on eBay would be okay) graphics-adapter, that's capable of all the LH/Vista-Effects?

Well then again - I still think 4039 is a crappy build. Takes minutes to load and runs very unstable (even without glass activated). Does anyone know, what messes this build up? I know there was some kind of memory leak in 4015...

Regards
Jens

The memory leak was in all 40xx builds. Though 4008 was ok, it got very bad in 401x and slowly got better again...
